Curled up on my leopard lounge, I closed my eyes to listen closely to Cathy Wilke. She prompted me to visualize the type of person I'm here to serve. What I saw jolted me.
I saw skinny knees.
Teen girls, I thought. WHAT?!
What do teens have to do my purpose? I was baffled, but curious.
I needed to explore this. I dove into the deep end, terrified, with Cathy as my lifeguard. I felt vulnerable to open up about my desire for girls to fill up their cup FIRST, so they can live from a FULL WELL.
If I had found Louise Hay at 13, I would've focused on myself and not have been so boy crazy. Deep down, I felt I was onto something.
The exploration opened doors that I never thought I'd walk through. The Be Your Own Bestie playshop was born while working full time. It was fun to cherry pick powerful personal development tools to pass on to young girls.
Then, I met Lindsey Barbara, the darling who designed my site. Filling out her questionnaire, a new conviction rang true. When I asked WHY I do what I do, this came forth:
I want girls to be the hero of their own life! Why? I focused too much on romantic relationships in my 20's. I feel like it hindered my career. I had no clue I had a SELF or how to care for it. Instead, I thought I had to be the perfect friend, girlfriend, employee. UGH! So embarrassing. My dream is to help girls step into their power NOW, so that they don't have to rely on ANYONE or ANYTHING to make them happy.
This declaration set me on a fresh path. I got never ending winks from the Universe to work with youth. I couldn't ignore the signs if I tried.
I asked spirit if it was financially safe for me to do this work. As I gazed outside, two kids sat in front of my lawn. I've lived here for 20 years and that never happened. When pulling cards around career, the children card would always pop up. (I thought it meant to play more :)
Shine From Within Youth Mentor Training launched and I enrolled. How could I pass up the opportunity to learn from sweet Amanda Rootsey who build a business doing similar work for teens. The training and guidance were priceless.
I connected with a dear soul, Stephanie Taylor through the training. We Skyped and it was nice to learn about her Radiance program for girls. She asked if she could pray for me and I said, "of course! Thank you!" I thought she'd do so privately. Instead she closed her eyes with me on Skype and asked a higher power for me NOT to hold my vision too close to my chest. She asked for God to guide me when I get lost building this brand. I balled and felt so ON PURPOSE.
It was CLEAR. Unstoppable Girls Squad was a calling. It wanted to be born through me and I said, "Yes!" even if I didn't know HOW to make this work. My playshops are the most authentic expression of my TRUE SELF and most fulfilling work I’ve done. So blessed.
